    First edition. Translated from the German by a Lady. In Two Parts. Part I - The Italian Schools of Painting. Edited, With Notes by C.L. Eastlake. xxxvi, 444 pp + 16 pp ads. Contents: History of Early Christian Art, Masters of the Thirteenth Century, Masters of the Fourteenth Century (Tuscan Schools - Giotto & Schools of Upper Italy), Masters of the Fifteenth Century (Tuscan Schools, Schools of Padua and Venice, Schools of Umbria, School of Naples, ), Masters of the Sixteenth Century (Leonardo da Vinci, Michael Angelo Buonarotti, other Masters of Florence, Raphael, Masters of Sienna and Verona, Coreggio, Schools of Venice), Masters of the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries. Text clean throughout but foxing on folding plate at rear (ceiling of the Sistine Chapel) and in its vicinity. Small spots of foxing on edges. Brown cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. Spine faded. Top and bottom of spine rubbed. Corners bumped and rubbed. Blindstamp decoration on boards. Short split c 1cm at top of spine. White stain on back board. Binding sound. Overall condition VG. No dust wrapper.
