Some age toning to text block - all pages bright and clear. With photographs and illustrations. Robert Dick was born in the north east of Scotland in 1920, and became a boy soldier in 1935 when he was not quite 15 years old. Within 3 months he had been posted aboard to serve with the Cameron Highlanders. Commencing within the villages of Spey Bay, Garmouth and Kingston, this memoir leads to Palestine, Egypt, and India, and includes reference to some of the Australian and South African Forces who served alongside Robert Dick on a number of occasions. From his experiences as a front-line stretcher bearer, and as a Medical orderly while a POW in Germany, the grimmest side of war - death and disease, pain and suffering - is dealt with in graphic detail. This is a harrowing tale of a very young man, fighting for his country, far away from home. It is also a compelling read. Additional photographs are available upon request.
