The Man Who Supercharged Bond: The extraordinary story of Charles Amherst Villiers by Paul Kenny; hardcover in dustjacket; Haynes Publishing UK, 2009 INSCRIBED by the Author to Mullin Automotive Museum founder, the late Peter Mullin. A close relation of Winston Churchill, Amherst Villiers is perhaps best known as the man who supercharged the Blower Bentley (which his close friend Ian Fleming had James Bond drive in Casino Royale and Moonraker). However, he also developed racing cars, designed Malcolm Campbell's first land speed record breaking Bluebird and made a return to front-line motor racing in the 1960s with BRM and in the 1970s with Graham Hill's eponymous Grand Prix team. He spent the best part of 30 years in North America working for the likes of Grumman, Douglas and Boeing on a variety of space projects. In his spare time, he was a society portrait painter, and his paintings of Fleming and Hill hang in the London's National Portrait Gallery.

He wrote a comprehensive guide to gesturing titled "How to Gesture" in 1902, an early guide to body language. The story follows the life of Philip Gerard, a young man who is struggling to find his place in the world. As he navigates through the challenges of life, he is faced with difficult decisions and must learn to overcome his own personal demons. Grey cloth boards are worn at the edges, hole in the cloth in the middle of front, some soiling, spine is akilter, wear at head/tail. Title page is a little soiled. Includes a cabinet card photograph of the author. All orders packed with care, most dust jackets protected by Brodart sleeve, independent bookseller since 2011. Signed by Author.
