Andy Warhol exhibition catalogues are as sought after as Warhol's original work, not least as an authoritative guide providing much sought after trade data, historic price guides and provenance. This trend was not new in 1970, to the extent that this catalogue includes a Selected Exhibition Catalogues section which details Warhol's most authoritative exhibition catalogues of the day. This much sought after 1970 Andy Warhol first edition exhibition catalogue raisonne is stamped on the first page with Warhol's official name stamp, signed and dated 2. 7. 1980. by Warhol on the front cover and signed again on the half title page. On February 7th, 1980, Warhol was in London participating in various promotional activities for his then new book, Exposures. Warhol signed and dated this catalogue raisonne at a signing at Words and Music bookshop on Charing Cross Road, where he was signing copies of his book Exposures. Warhol died on February 22nd 1987 in New York City at the age of 58. This 160 page book by John Coplans (with contributions by Jonas Mekas and Calvin Tompkins) was commissioned by NYGS (New York Graphic Society) to accompany the 1970 Andy Warhol exhibition which was organized by the Pasadena Art Museum and later travelled to the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, the Stedelijk van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven, Netherlands), the Musée d'art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (Paris), the Tate Gallery (London), and the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York). The book includes authoritative entries including Filmography of Andy Warhol (plus Notes After Reseeing Movies), Painting & Sculpture One Man Exhibitions, Selected Periodicals, Selected Books, Selected Exhibition Catalogues. In very good condition, occasional minor creasing, signed and dated in sharpie on the front cover and signed on the half title page in sharpie.
