Condition: Good. Haunted by a military mission that ended in personal tragedy, Declan Byrne still bears a soldier's scars. As a park ranger on the secluded Mendocino coast, he guards his heart while standing ready for anything. Anything except a beautiful, ethereal woman with a mysterious past, falling from the cliffs to the rocks below. Angel, as Declan decides to call her, has no memory of what happened. But as her body heals, disturbing dreams emerge. In Declan's protective care, Angel feels safe to act on the undeniable passion between them, without the threats from old, unnameable demons. And, in time, she senses Declan needs her as desperately as she needs him. But when her past returns with a vengeance, Declan must decide just how much he's willing to risk in order to keep the woman he loves safe. …

Paperback. Condition: Fair. "This barrio angel teaches us how to see behind the appearance of things and how to embrace reality with all the senses." --Isabel Allende "Laura Restrepo breathes life into a singular amalgam of journalistic investigation and literary creation. Her fascination with popular culture and the play of her impeccable humor, of that biting but at the same time tender irony . . . infuses them with unmistakable reading pleasures."  --Gabriel García Márquez Winner of Mexico's Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize, and France's Prix France Culture, The Angel of Galilea introduces a refreshing new voice in Latin American literature to the English speaking audience. Mona is a jaded reporter for a Colombian tabloid sent on assignment to investigate an angel sighting in one of Bogotá's most devastated barrios, where she encounters a community torn apart by a passionate conflict over a beautiful man who walks the fine line between sanity and sainthood. For the people of Galilea, this mysterious and sensual "angel without a name" represents their hope amidst desperate circumstances; for Mona, he awakens her desire to love and gives her a reason to believe. When the barrio's priest leads a revolt against the fallen angel, Mona risks everything to protect him from the gang that threatens to destroy him. "Restrepo is a writer to treasure."  --Alastair Reid "Sharply resonant."  --The New York Times Book Review "Surprising, wonderful, and, for me, deeply moving." --Alvaro Mutis.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. This is an inspiring story about the life of Kristin Michelle Beaucher, how she touched thousands of lives, all of the pain and suffering she overcame, and how her faith in God only grew stronger. Losing her battle with cancer at the early age of nine never changed the person she was or made her lose sight of what she wanted to accomplish. Kristin was diagnosed with medduloblastoma (brain cancer) at the young age of two and a half. She dealt with more pain and suffering than many adults will endure in their entire life. Kristin overcame every obstacle in her path and every problem that came her way with a smile on her face and love pouring from her heart. Kristin was truly an angel, a gift from God himself, who changed the lives of everyone she met, sometimes without even saying a word. She gave when she had nothing left to give, and her legacy lives on through each and every one of us who had the honor of knowing her. I have cancer so that I can be the one to prove to everybody that God can create miracles. This is my daughter, and she gave her life to save mine. I promised Kristin that I would live every day as she did, to do my very best, and to make her as proud of me as I was of her. I know I will never be able to even come close, but Kristin never gave up. How in the world could I? Sweetie, you will always be my baby, my angel, and my hero.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Raul H. Castro was the first Hispanic governor of Arizona, ambassador to El Salvador, Bolivia, and Argentina, lawyer, judge, and teacher. Born in Mexico in 1916, he moved with his family to a small mining community in Arizona in 1926. His earliest memories include collecting cactus fruit in the desert for food. His childhood served as a metaphor for Mexican and American attitudes of mutual suspicion and distrust. Castro, nevertheless, defied the odds and, thanks to an athletic scholarship, entered Arizona State Teachers College where he graduated in 1939. By then an American citizen, he worked for the U.S. State Department as a foreign service officer at Agua Prieta, Sonora and then entered the University of Arizona College of Law. He was admitted to the Arizona bar in 1949. After practicing law in Tucson for several years, he became deputy Pima County attorney. In 1954, he was elected county attorney and served until 1958, when he became a Pima County Superior Court Judge. President Lyndon Johnson appointed Castro U.S. ambassador to Salvador in 1964 and to Bolivia in 1969. Castro was elected governor on the Democratic Party ticket in 1974 but an appointment as ambassador to Argentina interrupted his term. Raul Castro's story suggests much about the human spirit, the ability to overcome institutional and personal prejudice, and the hope inherent in the American dream.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Can a persons life really be over at just 19? Sarah challenges this notion when, after flunking out of school, she decides to return to her hometown to try to gain a better understanding of what might be holding her back in life. Home is the hardest place for Sarah to teach herself to stop being a victim. But it is also likely the most important place to do it. She uses her newfound knowledge about herself to pull others out of similar crises, as love is rediscovered and friendship is borne out of adversity. Angel Rock Leap is riddled with lost and broken characters, each guilty of hurting those around them because they, themselves, hurt. This is an anti-bullying story that is Christian principle-based, with particular emphasis on the idea that hurting people hurt people.…

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. The seed for my thriller Sleep then My Princess was planted many years ago when I was nine-years-old. Our family went to visit friends. My parents were sitting at their friends' dining table after they had enjoyed a home cooked lunch and the discussion was about a woman who lived across the road from these friends. This woman was minding a pre-school age child from Monday to Friday. This child slept in the chicken shed at night summer and winter and was only cleaned up before her mother came to pick her up on Friday evening. I was shocked as were my parents. This seed grew into a story which is fiction and fact. When I was holidaying in Arizona I came across a news report which had a startling similarity to that long remembered discussion between my parents and their friends and I knew I must write this story.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Angels still compel readers to want to understand them somehow. The author takes Angel workshops where angels have been experienced. From Sumarian winged dieties to alien abduction phenomena. Contemporary evidence supporting their existence. An Angelic encounter or a Spirit Guide? This is a practical guide that will enable readers to contact their own Guardian Angel. It also addresses the question 'why do Angels intervene sometimes and not others?' You don't have to see an Angel to experience its influence. They have saved life, brought consolation in times of despair and offered a glimpse of the greater reality that is our life. But what are they? An expression of universal energy? Or perhaps a projection of our own higher self? Whatever they are, they are real - but beyond full understanding. Here is an expert view, born of many years of research and experience.…

Hardback. Condition: Good. Based on a true story, this gripping novel of crime and redemption covers the kidnapping of a young boy during the week before Christmas and the three detectives who lead the investigation--Ralph Kane, Isaiah Bell, and their boss, Inspector Roberta Easterly. Enraged and anguished by this savage act--which seems to have been motivated purely by greed--yet frustrated by the political maneuverings inside the police department, Kane and Bell must each confront personal and racial demons as they cross moral boundaries in order to chase down several leads from sources within the city's various criminal networks. As the tragic loss of the child brings the community to a standstill, it compels all involved, white and black, criminals and cops alike, to look for the remaining shred of goodness in their lives. Rogers, Jacqueline (illustrator).…
