Inscribed by illustrator de Angeli on dedication page preceding main title: "For a dear child / with warm / good wishes / Always, / Marguerite de Angeli / June 12, 1954." Color illus. dust jacket shows several sections of rubbing and/or surface paper loss along spine panel, with 1/2" loss at both spine extremities, 1" closed tear along bottom front edge, rubbed flap folds, worn but intact, now in mylar. The story of two little Quaker girls living in Philadelphia just before the Civil War. They play make-believe and wish they could dress brightly as some of the other girls do but eventually we read what happens to make the Quaker bonnet feel light and beautiful to Hannah.
