Three quarto volumes (each 10 1/2 by 12 1/2 inches). This set belonged to actor and film director John Cassavetes and is boldly signed by him with a huge seven inch signature which he has dated 1952. Contemporary calf boards illustrated with engravings, modern rebacking in brown leather with gilt-stamped spine. Marbled endpapers. Gilt edges. Very good. Listed in Jaggard. Shakesperiana. John Cassavetes is considered the father of the modern American Independent Film movement with his personal films Shadows, Faces, Husbands, Minnie & Moskowitz, A Woman Under the Influence, The Killing of a Chinese Bookie, Gloria, etc. Cassavetes was also very much in demand as an actor in mainstream Hollywood and he appeared in such films as RosemaryÕs Baby, The Dirty Dozen, Capone, The Furys, etc. A terrific association copy with the works of the greatest of all dramatists owned by one of AmericaÕs most distinguished directors.
