Also in1966, he was awarded the Schweizer Jugendbuchpreis (Swiss youth book prize) for Zottel, Zick und Zwerg. Beautiful, detailed, colorful illustrations based on a goatherder's life in Switzerland. Anton herds the goats every day to the mountains and back. On this day, a rainstorm comes up and he is missing 3 goats. His determined search for them shows his courage and commitment to their welfare. The story has drama as it unfolds, and many details for children to note. Anton rescues the lost sheep and returns the herd safely home, ignoring his injured ankle. Safe in his cozy bed that night, he dreams that all the animals are in his room.
