Uncommon book in Munro Leaf's "Can Be Fun" series. Leaf is, of course, most renowned for his 1936 classic THE STORY OF FERDINAND.…

Red cloth over boards with black lettering on front cover and spine; black stamping of small elephants and ducks on front cover. Blue DJ with yellow lettering on front cover; blue lettering on back cover. Title page dated 1949, states that this is a first edition. 64 pages. In good condition. Cloth over boards appears slightly faded; there is a small, light colored marking near upper edge of front cover. Covers are otherwise unmarked. Slight bumping to head and foot of spine, as well as at corners. DJ in fair condition, protected by plastic Mylar cover. Front cover appears quite worn, with significant tears along edges. Back cover is in slightly better condition, with only chipping to paper along edges. Although DJ is quite worn, it is present, and remains snug to boards. Binding is strong. Pages free of marks or tears throughout, with the exception of one page with illustrations of clocks -- someone has written the numbers in the clocks in pencil. Black and red illustrations throughout. Overall, a good first edition.…

No printed date that I can find. 63 pages. Book and DJ are in good condition. Minimal shelf wear to cover. Small area faded on bottom edge of front cover near spine. Boards are clean and undamaged. Binding is strong. Even discoloration of pages due to age. Pages are free of marks, tears, or creases. Some tears and scuffs along edges of DJ, which is now protected in clear mylar sleeve. Front cover DJ illustration features title drawn on chalkboard- undamaged. Vintage children's book is overall in great shape.…
