"In January 1860, the Council of the Art-Union of London offered a premium of One Hundred Guineas for a series of designs in outline, or outline slightly shaded, illustrative of Mr. Tennyson's poem, "Idylls Of The King." In reply, forty-three sets were submitted, consisting of 540 drawings, and were exhibited publicly for four weeks, with the prizes. After due examination, the Council, awarded the premium to a set of sixteen drawings, which proved to be the work of Mr. Paolo Priolo, resident of Edinburgh." This book consists of the sixteen drawings by Mr. Priolo. This was issued in softcovers, and this book was rebound into plain blue cloth hardcovers, with gilt lettering on the spine. This book was signed by the author Charles Warren Stoddard (Aug.-7-1843 - April 23, 1909), (San Francisco, California), not dated. VERY GOOD HARDCOVER, some light foxing is present, else a nice clean tight copy, scarce. Size: 4to - over 9ž" - 12" Tall, Oblong. Signed by Charles Warren Stoddard.

First Edition. A LECTURE GIVEN BY WALT WHITMAN BEFORE THE BROOKLYN ART UNION ON MARCH 31, 1851 AND REPORTED IN THE BROOKLYN DAILY ADVERTISER OF APRIL 3, 1851, H. S. Saunders, 1913, first and only edition, light wear to the corner tips, else a near fine copy. A peculiar rarity consisting of 20 typed pages bound in brown boards and cloth spine. This is #6 of only 7 produced copies and is not only SIGNED by the publisher on the colophon page noting the 7 recipients of this volume, but this copy is also INSCRIBED by Saunders to Horace Traubel, Whitman's executor, on the front end-paper. Obviously missing from most every Whitman collection. From the library of the former premier Walt Whitman collector, bibliophile and philanthropist, Charles Feinberg. Rare. Myerson I-24.
On the copyright page she inscribed in French, dated with place, "2/4/60 London," and signed, "Ida." The catalog is comprised of 21 photograph portraits, stapled but now separated from the cover that shows a self portrait of Kar. Otherwise, pages in good condition.
