Charles Lever (1806-1872) was an Irish novelist, highly praised by Anthony Trollope. His works were humorous in nature, with simple characters and light, flowing descriptions.Thirteen novels complete in seventeen volumes bound beautifully by Birdsall and Son of Northampton.Each volume has the original wraps bound in at the rear, and is illustrated by Phiz. Hablot Knight Browne, or Phiz, is best known for his illustrations for the works of Dickens, which include 'David Copperfield', 'Dombey and Son', 'The Pickwick Papers' and 'Bleak House'.The original wraps, including the publisher's advertisements, have been bound in to the rear of each volume.'Harry Lorrequer' was published in 1839 and is complete with twenty-two plates.'Charles O'Malley, the Irish Dragoon' is complete in two volumes.
