The scarce first edition of this work, in the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper. With a presentation inscription from the author to the front free endpaper: 'He. C. Jones from yours very truly H. E. Forrest'. With a loosely inserted handwritten letter from the author, dated 1936, to a different recipient. 'Dr Mr Cartlidge, many thanks for your interesting letter and the photograph [.] I was able to get a clearer idea of the glaciation of the Lake District [.] it is a great satisfaction to me to clear this up as I could not get it from the published books & papers'. Illustrated with a frontispiece, folding map, and thirteen images on plates. Collated, complete. Zoologist H. Edward Forrest in this work presents the idea that the difference in fauna between Great Britain and Northern Ireland is due to the Atlantean continent, or Atlantis. He presents a scientific argument for this in this work. Loosely inserted is a 1938 paper from the author titled 'Recent Developments in the Theory of the Atlantean Continent'.
