Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Published by Macdonald and Co Ltd in 1954, here is the first hardback printing of John Cowper Powys' ATLANTIS. Grey cloth binding, gilt lettering against a sky blue background, gilt decoration, 462 pages, the book is in good condition (a little below average perhaps) and entirely due to a mark at the top right hand corner of the front paste down which must have gotten damp at some time and has been folded back. This has led to a small area of loss at the top of the front free end paper and also to the page below. There is some minor spotting to the next two pages in the same corner, the rest of the book is blemish free and near fine. The cult, vibrant dust jacket is very good to near fine with some very minor staining to the insides, gentle rubbing to the edges plus a closed tear approximately 18mm in length to the front top edge near the spine. A very decent offering indeed.
