Very good octavo hardcover in original boards with original pale patterned endpapers (showing some minimal foxing to versos); spine slanted 3/16ths inch (5 mm.) Front board illustrated in color, gilt spine titles bright. Something has been removed from the FFE, probably a…glued-on bookplate. (NO signs of lending-library history.) Inscribed to top of second blank in an elegant period hand "Jas Emery / from the Author 1893," though author Emerson (as seems to have been his habit) has NOT signed his name. Why the B&W photographs are so small we have no idea; some of them, at least, appear to be 35 mm. contact prints. 298 pp. including the Appendix (Log), followed by 2 pp. "Opinions of the Press." Here reduced from $475. As with all our items priced higher than $90, this item will be shipped "signature required.". Illustrated with 18 incredibly small B&W photographs (illustrator).
