Addressed to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar). Near fine. Two faint horizontal folds. On his imprinted personal letterhead, Converse pens in his large, handsome script a grateful appreciation to an admirer: "Your appreciation of my music gives me great satisfaction and encouragement. Many thanks for your kindness.".
