Originalleinenband mit farbig illustriertem Schutzumschlag und 32 Illustrationen auf Vor-/Hintersatz. - Ein sehr gut erhaltenes, sauberes Exemplar ohne Eintragungen. - Aus dem vielschichtigen Charakter der volkstümlichen Sakralkunst in Bayern leuchten kräftig-bunt die hölzernen Nachschöpfungen böhmisch-marianischer Gnadenbilder. Sie sind in der Hauptsache durch zwei Typen vertreten: gekrönte Muttergottesfiguren, die das Kind auf dem Arme halten, einfach und streng ausgeführt, freundlich bemalt; und Darstellungen Mariens mit Szepter und globustragendem Christuskind, farbig gefasst oder ganz in Gold gekleidet. Diese typologisch klar unterscheidbaren Statuetten fasst das Waldvolk meist in einem Namen zusammen. Die Alten um Grafenau, Kirchdorf, Regen, Zwiesel und Bodenmais nennen sie "Pribramer" oder "Unsere liebe Frau vom Heiligenber". Gegen die Donau hin, vor allem um Osterhofen pflegen sie die Bezeichnung "Prager Muttergottes". Erst in de letzten Jahren hat sich der kulturgeographische Oberbegriff "Böhmische Madonnen" mehr und mehr durchgesetzt. Die ausserordentliche Häufigkeit deiser Heiligrümer gerade im südöstlichen Bayern hat ihern besondern Grund und eine eigene Geschichte.
