The eighth Babar book, but the first to be written and illustrated by Jean de Brunhoff's son, Laurent. Illustrated in color throughout. Size: Folio.

Hard pictorial boards with cloth spine, a little rubbing/bumping/chipping to edges, minor scuffing. Contents generally clean and tight but for a little soiling/spotting/browning, minor splitting to hinges. Decorative endpapers. Lovely colour illustrations by the author throughout. King Babar and Queen Celeste go on holiday taking their children, Zephir the Monkey, and Barbar's naughty little cousin Arthur with them. Written and illustrated by Laurent de Brunhoff, son of Babar's creator Jean de Brunhoff.

Small indentation to the bottom half of the front board. Short tears to the bottom of the title page, page 21/22 and the last few pages. A longer tear to the front edge of page 7/8. Very good -. Generally a nice copy, apart from the tears, of the first post-war Babar adventure and the first to be written by Laurent, after his father's death in 1937.
