Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Brett, David (pseudonym of Eugenie Richards (illustrator). 1st Edition. (Alphabet) Baby's A.B.C. (Code No. 80); illustrated by David Brett (pseudonym of Eugenie Richards). London: Dean's Rag Book Co., Ltd., between 1908-1913. FIRST EDITION. 4to - 11-1/2" x 7-3/4". Pink cloth backed color pictorial limp cloth wrappers, sewn as issued, with minor spotting to the back wrapper for what is a nice copy of the book. [18] butterfly-folded double cloth pages including wrappers; pinking to head and foot of book. The book is an alphabet/object book in which each letter of the alphabet is paired with an object that starts with that letter, e.g., "A stands for Anchor. B stands for Ball. C stand for Circus," etc.; the letter "N" stands for a racist word that is difficult to see in print, but that was evidently so common place at the turn of the 20th century, that it was deemed acceptable to be included in children's books; internal pages with foxing and stains throughout. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD. Only one copy located on WorldCat (Princeton University Library). RARE.

Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 16 pages inc covers ABC booklet oblong octavo shape with illustrated covers and pretty period 1930's children depicted in the rhymes for the alphabet description. States "Linen Finish" and the pages and covers feel slighly textured so would probably wipe clean? The covers are a little creased and the staples are rusted, but the contents are all very good, one staple has come away from the covers leaving them a little loose. Good+ to VG. No date c1940's. *This would have been a cheap book when published and copies WILL be scarce despite its fairly recent history.

London; New York: Frederick Warne and Co., [circa 1910]. FIRST EDITION. Folio - 12-15/16" x 10-1/16". Red cloth half-bound with a color pictorial cloth covered upper board and a raw uncovered lower board with titles printed in black to what is a slightly sunned spine, with light wear to the head and tail of spine, shelf wear to the corners and edges, bumps and creases to the lower fore edge corners which is most visible to the uncovered lower board, a small stain at upper right of front cover and a soiled back cover for what, despite all the listed flaws, is still a nice copy of the book. All edges tinted red. Bookplate to upper paste-down. [26] stiff linen leaves printed rectos only. Printed entirely on cloth, this is an alphabet book with two complete runs through the alphabet instead of just one. The first time through, each letter is printed in upper case form in either blue or red and each is paired with a group of words that start with that letter, e.g., "A: Ark, Apples; B: Ball, Butterfly, Buttercup;" each of the letter/word groups is illustrated with a lovely chromolithograph. The second time through, each letter is printed in upper case form in one of a variety of different colors and each letter is paired with a verse related in some way to the letter, e.g., "A is for apples That Auntie will bring: B for the Bells That at Christmas-time ring;" each of the verses is illustrated with a beautiful full page chromolithograph; internally, the condition of the book is fine. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD. Only one copy located on OCLC/WorldCat (Randolph College). EXCEEDINGLY RARE; and a truly beautiful book.
