Cloth. Condition: Good. Not Stated (illustrator). First edition. The very scarce first edition of this rhyming children's tale for children, printed on muslin by the Saalfield Company. A vanishingly scarce first edition. The work was reissued in 1908.In the early 1900s, the Saalfield Company introduced a new type of children's book, with text and images printed on cloth, a format intended to withstand the enthusiastic handling of children. The "muslin books" were popular, with close to one hundred titles having been issued by 1925.Bound in printed muslin, this is a delightful children's tale about a series of adventures encountered by a young child.Illustrated throughout in colour. In the original publisher's cloth wraps. Fraying to wrap heads and tails. Significant handling marks and spotting to lower half of front wrap. Fold to fore edge of head of front wrap and following leaf. Internally, firmly bound. Major spotting, foxing, handling marks and tide marks throughout, with fraying to page heads and tails. Good. book.
