Hand-Colored Original Lithograph by Jakob Alt, depicting Stepberg (Baiern). Published Wien, Kunike, 1823. Sheet: 25.8 x 35,3 cm (10.25 x 14 inches). A fine and original hand-colored example of Alt's celebrated cartographic work, documenting this region of Germany with the precision and decorative artistry characteristic of the 18200s. Jakob Alt was a cartographer active in the 1800s, working in the tradition of European copper-engraved cartography. Their maps are valued by collectors for their historical accuracy and decorative quality.This plate presents a original lithograph, with original hand coloring depicting the city of Stepberg (Baiern), published in Wien, Kunike, 1823-26. Such topographic views from Alt's workshop are primary historical documents of German urban history in the 1800s, now prized equally by historians, map collectors, and interior decorators.
