Oblong 4to seasonal booklet in photo-illustrated wrappers accompanied by two original folded performance programs from the opening week of the 1963-1964 season at New York City Center, the final season before the company's move to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in April 1964…. Included are the multi-date program for September 6 / September 12 / September 13, 1963 and an additional program for September 17 and September 18, 1963. The September 12 program issued for opening night of the season presents an all-George Balanchine repertory including Serenade, Arcade, Movements for Piano and Orchestra, and Raymonda Variations. The associated September 6 and 13 performances include Four Temperaments, Arcade, Agon, and Stars and Stripes. The subsequent program for September 17 and 18 includes performances of Balanchine's Swan Lake, Firebird, Gounod Symphony Allegro Brillante, Symphony in C, Jerome Robbins' Afternoon of a Faun, and Jacques d'Amboise's The Chase or The Vixen's Choice. Performers represented throughout include Arthur Mitchell, Suzanne Farrell, Jacques d'Amboise, Allegra Kent, Edward Villella, Jillana, Patricia Wilde, Maria Tallchief, André Prokovsky, and others. A handsomely produced document of the New York City Ballet as it transitioned from its founding location to its present one, enhanced by the inclusion of the nightly programs rarely retained alongside the more common seasonal booklet. Price is for the grouping of three items—the booklet and two programs. Some bumping and chipping to lightly rubbed wrappers. Minor bumping to programs. A few pages with toning from insertion of news clippings.
