Hardcover. 16mo. Dark blue cloth with gilt spine lettering. vii, 506pp. Front endpaper map. Near fine. Handsome, tight later printing of #268 in the "World's Classics" series, arguably one of his best and most popular novels. First published in 1857 and in this series 1925 (here undated and post-1949, likely 1970s vintage). This unique copy bears two interesting autograph additions: In 1982 British television aired a 7-part series, "The Barchester Chronicles," an adaptation of the first two titles in Trollope's "Chronicles of Barsetshire" series (the 1855 "The Warden" and "Barchester Towers"), and tipped to an inner flyleaf and another facing the title page are bold signatures of two cast members, each on fine, matching heavy stock 5" X 3" cards: On inner flyleaf is Peter Blythe (1934-2004), who portrays Bertie Stanhope; he signs in black fineline and dates it 26 May 1988 at upper right. Facing the title page is Susan Hampshire (born 1937), who portrays Signore Madeline Neroni; she signs in black fineline and dates it 18 March 1977 at upper right. Laid in are the ideal bookmarks: Blythe and Hampshire's original transmittal envelopes.
