First edition. Fine. Inscribed by author on title page: "For Sean [ ] - a special student all the best Robert Peters 31 July 92". Peters (b. 1924) is a poet, critic, scholar, playwright, editor, and actor. His poetry career began in 1967 when his young son Richard died unexpectedly of spinal meningitis. The book commemorating this loss, Songs for a Son, was selected by poet Denise Levertov to be published by W.W. Norton in 1967, and it still remains in print. Songs for a Son began a veritable deluge of poetry. His original, daring, and imaginative verse has greatly enriched American poetry and poetics. Shortly after divorcing his wife, Peters met poet Paul Trachtenberg and established a relationship lasting over thirty-six years. Red cloth with silver titling on spine. Interior is clean, crisp, tight & bright, and other than author's inscription unmarked. 68 pp. Approx. 6" x 9". A very nice copy and a wonderful addition to your library. Carefully shipped in secure parcel. Ask all questions; glad to respond.
