Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. First Edition, First Printing. This book goes over the top! "Once upon a time in rural Maine, a big black bear found a briefcase under a tree. Hoping for food, he dragged it into the woods, only to find that all it held was the manuscript of a novel. He couldn't eat it, but he could read it, and decided it wasn't bad. Borrowing some clothes from a local store, and the name Hal Jam from the labels of his favorite foods, he headed to New York to see his fortune in the literary world.". Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition; First Printing. A handsome first edition/first printing in Fine condition in Fine dust-jacket. Signed by author William Kotzwinkle directly on the title page; Billy is an 8-year-old boy who lives in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains with his father and older brother. Billy is a loner who loves to read and explore the wilderness near their home. One day, Billy's father takes him and his brother on a hike up a mountain to see an old cabin that his family used to visit as kids. The hike is long and steep, and when they get to the top, they find that the cabin has been abandoned for years. Billy's father tells him about a time when he and his brother were camping in the woods nearby and they found a bear trapped in a tree. The father tells Billy that he and his brother had to climb the tree to free the bear, and that when they got to the bear, it had fallen to the ground and was asleep. Billy is excited to try this adventure out himself, and his father lets him go. Billy spends the rest of the day climbing trees and exploring the surrounding area; 8vo; Signed by Author.
