Scarce work. Inscribed by the artist to the front endpaper. A collection of humorous children's verses detailing exciting and terrible animals from the yak and the polar bear to the dodo and the big baboon. Written by Joseph Hilaire Pierre Belloc, a Franco-English writer and historian, credited as an orator, poet, sailor, satirist, writer of letters, soldier, and political activist. Illustrated by Lord Ian B.G.T. Blackwood, an English peer and artist. In the original paper covered boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Chipping to the spine resulting in loss to the head and tail with the paper detached from the front joint. Light sunning and marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Age toning to the endpapers. Artist's ink inscription to the front endpaper. Good. signed by author. book.
