This Restoration-era comedy was just the sort of work that attracted fine-press literati of the 1920s, leading to this stunning little book bound in high q…uality vellum. The extra suite of plates is housed in a custom folding pocket at the rear. Laboureur was a respected French illustrator of the '20s, specializing in engraving and etching; among his students was Marie Laurencin. 8.25'' x 4.75''. Original gilt-stamped vellum. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut. Illustrated with seven copper engravings by Laboureur. Introduction by Bonamy Dobrée. xxviii, 128 pages. Limited edition of 527 copies, this #26 of 70 copies containing an extra set of the engravings in final state, signed by Laboureur on the limitation page. Slight toning and bowing to vellum, else fresh and clean. Signed.
