Condition: Fair. New Edition. 904 pages. Half bound brown leather with brown cloth covered boards. Volume II. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout. Previous owner's inscription to front pastedown. Thumb-marking present. Brown and yellow staining to pages throughout. Noticeable creasing to gutter. Cracking to hinges and gutters, leaving netting exposed. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Visible crushing to spine ends. Some splits to spine. Noticeable peeling leather to spine and corners. Light marks overall.

Russet cloth on boards with blind stamped title and decoration on front board, with gilt title on spine. Vol. A-D has tear in spine resulting in top half of spine and rear board secured on bottom edge only. Brown endpapers with Beeton adverts. Page opposite half-title page has lower quarter removed. Text, maps and charts intact. Rear hinge cracked. Vol. D-L has split at top of spine with some rubbing to top/tail. Plain endpapers with small stationer's stamp on ffe. Preface and title page appear to be missing. Text and maps etc are clean and sound. Vol. L-Z has tear at top of spine with sunning to board. Crack in rear hinge, otherwise text, b/w maps and colour fold-out all present and clean. Scarce in this 3 volume set.

He launched The English Woman's Domestic Magazine, a pioneering serial for middle-class women, in 1852. His Boy's Own Magazine, published in the UK from 1855 to 1890, was the first and most influential boys' magazine. Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management was published in 1861. Beeton followed it with a series of other self-help textbooks, including Beeton's Book of Needlework, Beeton's Dictionary of Geography, Beeton's Book of Birds, Beeton's Book of poultry and domestic animals?
