At the time of its compilation the art of the anthologist was in disrepute. Grigson, by breaking the rules, ignoring received opinion and resolutely following his own taste, arrived at a geniunely new and exciting presentation of his authors. The major poets look different through his eyes, the minor ones emerge with an engaging freshness. This is a book for student and amateur alike.
