Opening and closing blanks browned and torn, old ink inscriptions and paper label to front blank, early nineteenth century library stamp (Medical Society of London) and ink class mark to title page, Wellcome library withrawal stamp to reverse of title page, p109-110 (leaf H7) supplied in good facsimile, paper browned with occasional spotting. First edition of Pitt's demonstration of the worthlessness of certain expensive drugs (sarsaparilla, bezoar, powder of viper and mummy etc) and the value of some lower cost ones. "The London Pharmacopaeia or Receipt book the last Age was made of antiquated absurd and useless compositions.". The text quickly ran into two further editions. Usable and presentable example of the uncommon first edition; ESTC T34354.
