Las Bellezas del Talmud, más que una traducción, es en realidad una obra literaria de Cansinos construida a partir de ediciones francesas e inglesas, abreviadas y de traducción libre, que tuvo por finalidad promocionar el libro y difundirlo en el mundo cultural español. La antología reúne fragmentos de Hagadá, de aforismos talmúdicos, de reglas éticas judías así como hermosas parábolas y fábulas de los Midrachim, consiguiendo un florilegio de los diez siglos de pensamiento judío que recoge la inmensa edición del Talmud, cuya traducción completa al español aún hoy no se ha logrado. La lectura empieza con la creación del mundo, adentrándose en la revelación y en lo sobrenatural, recogiendo luego principios y ejemplos de virtud religiosa y de moral, o descubriendo las costumbres y los sentimientos nacionales israelitas, sin olvidar el humor, que también tiene lugar destacado. Each individual is accompanied by some textual information in English and Spanish, and there is a useful Bibliography and Index to the illustrations, followed by a list of Awards given to Mexican actresses between 1940 and 1969. The contents are tight, bright and clean, with no additional markings or inscriptions, and minimal only evidence of being handled. One of 2000 unnumbered copies, now Scarce.
