Pre-dating by a long way the more recent works for which William Joyce has become so well known and revered, this is a nice early example of his picture books. This a gentle, but off-beat, pastel-hued picture book that certainly hearkens to an earlier style than "The Man in the Moon" (2011) and the other titles in the on-going "The Guardians of Childhood" series, and the Oscar-winning short animated film, "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore". A fine copy in a very good dust jacket indeed, just slightly worn and curled on edges.
