In-4° (245x185mm), pp.38, (2), brossura marmorizzata posteriore. Dedica autografa dell'autore all'occhietto: All'Ill.a Sig.ra Ortensia Vernaccia in segno d'ossequio l'autore. La dedicataria è la marchesa fiorentina Ortensia Caccini del Vernaccia. Ultima erede della casata dei Caccini, ella andò sposa nel 1704 a Giovan Vincenzo Del Vernaccia. Vignetta calcografica al frontespizio con una palma che si estolle liberandosi da degli ostacoli e un cippo col motto Oppressa resurgo. Testatine e capilettera ornati. Buon esemplare. Unica edizione, rara, di questa lettera scritta da un medico livornese e toccante svariate questioni cliniche: i salassi, la flebotomia e i suoi vari impieghi (soprattutto contro le infiammazioni dei vasi grandi), un caso di autopsia condotto dall'autore, la natura dei sogni, l'uso erroneo delle canterelle (ossia le cantaridi) come antidoto contro la rabbia, l'abuso dei decotti sudoriferi, una purga mercuriale prescritta dal Redi a un signore affetto da itterizia, ecc. La presente è la sola opera a stampa conosciuta dell'autore. Manca al Wellcome. Italiano.

The semi-autobiographical artist's book made by Gianni Bertini, an Italian artist who developed MecArt, which recalls the pace of Pop Art but with a more explicitly critical orientation by way of postwar consumer culture. The works compiled here bring together textual fragments with stunning, highly modified images culled from magazines and popular culture. The images were restructured in a recherché mode by means of Bertini's own mechanical processes, involving screenprints and photo-reproductions. The work contains a text by French critic Noël Arnaud, who writes, "All the beings who fed our dreams, or the dullest hours of our sight, after which we sighed, or whom we reproached, and whom we pleasurably banished to the closets of fiction, are brought here to real existence by the demonic grace of Bertini.". Contains the text of the poem by Leopardi (in Italian) and the French translation by J.C.Lambert. Contains also 6 original coloured lithographs, all signed and numbered in pencil by the artists. (2 x Bertini; 2 x Moronti ; 2 x Rocca). The colophon, also signed by the three artists ans J.C. Lambert states that this publication was printed in an edition of 36 copies. This is number 32. The map is in mint condition. Successful combination of a poem by the famous 19th c. Italian poet Leopardi, in two languages, illustrated with 6 lithographs by leading Italian abstract artists . The publisher Lambert played an important role in 20th c. European art. He was involved with the creation of the art periodicals ''Le Musée de Poche'' and ''Opus International''; he was also at one time close with the surrealist mouvement of André Breton and later with Cobra .

Su un cartoncino di colore arancione, di formato 25,5 x 63 cm circa, è stata applicata la copertina, illustrata a colori, del catalogo della mostra dedicata alle opere di Gianni Bertini, organizzata a Forte dei Marmi dal 15 giugno al 25 luglio 2007 Percori e ricorsi, opere dal 1956 al 2004. Al di sotto della copertina è stato applicato al cartoncino arancione un secondo foglio (presumibilmente la prima pagina bianca del catalogo) su sui è presente un'ampia dedicata a pennarello nero firmata dal Bertini. Inquadrato con una cornice moderna bianca, in plastica e protetto da un foglio di plexiglass. Italiano.
