Wraps. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Promotional and souvenir brochure for the great silent movie epic about the First World War, and the movie which catapulted John Gilbert into the top heartthrob of the late Silent Era. The movie was also the second largest grossing silent movie, and one of the first blockbusters by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). 4to. 30.5 by 23 cm. 12 pp., plus wraps. The movie starred Renee Adoree in addition to Gilbert. With many colored photographs, big and small, and a two page color plate illustration in the center, with an inset photo of Gilbert kissing Adoree. The graphics of the brochure or booklet have a real panache. The publicity still, which arguably is the more special item, measures 23 by 18 cm. The brochure has a fair amount of wear and soiling, including crease lines, tiny abrasions on the cover, a few stains, nothing major, but ones in which it looks as if the color ink of the printing ran. The last leaf has the worst of the creases -- a horizontal line which looks like a crack in the thin card stock. The separate photo is pristine. We grade the package, then, Very Good.
