Bright, clean & tight copy, unread, in AS NEW condition. "Linda Ellerbee has always been one of my heroes in journalism and in life, and from her writing, anyone can see why. TAKE BIG BITES brings her independent and inquisitive spirit on her extensive travels around the world, and tops off her heartwarming stories with her favorite recipes gathered from her adventures. Seeing the world from her eyes, with her taste for the unusual and her hunger to try it all, will open your mind, your senses, and your heart."--Maria Shriver. "TAKE BIG BITES is delicious reading--an engaging memoir by a woman who has been many places and done many things (besides the ones she's famous for) and somehow managed to discover and enjoy good food, both plain and fancy. In recounting her adventures, she is knowing (but never a know-it-all), offhandedly funny, and affecting without a hint of affectation. Imagine an M.F.K. Fisher with a sense of humor and a little more warmth."--Colman Andrews, Saveur. Pristine hardcover w/sharp corners & crisp edges, a square & tight binding, in a bright, attractive jacket. Soft cover. Condition: New. New condition color illustrated glossy softcover wraps. Includes Acknowledgments and Why I Wrote This Book. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs. Signed and inscribed by the author with thin black Sharpie/marker on the inner front cover. "Humor, heart & a humble spirit . Potluck will bring back your childhood memories, remind you of your own siblings .with tears of laughter running down your cheeks." - Lana Harriger Nicol, daughter, wife, mother, grandma, wannabe artist & a "real" Orange County Housefrau. "The book is great, funny, entertaining, touching, spiritual and meaningful. You have lived quite a life and people need to know about it. Thank you." - Vicki Preleskik, Education Consultant and Orange Unified School District teacher for over forty years. "This is amazing! So heart warming, hilarious and real. I feel privileged to have read it. Thank you for this treasure." - Katie Janics-Geeza partner at Berding & Well, LLP Atorneys at Law and mother of two boys. "Ever done something so ridiculous you wish you had a hole to hid in? Well - in Paula's life, that's just "Wednesday." Her hilarious and heartwarming stories offer a first-ever peak at the life of a 1950s kid when her siblings became overnight Hollywood celebrities. And from Catalina Island, the author gives a glimpse at a wild child's life in that one-of-a-kind environment. Her antics with animals, from pythons to puppies to pigs, are a potluck of tender tales sure to put a tear in your eye and some warmth in your soul. Growing up with six siblings in a tiny beach cottage, "You have to do somehting to survive." Telling funny stories about her idiotic antics and the poignant events that filled her life kept Paula's friends in stitches and kept the author sane. After winning an essay contest in the 8th grade, she saw writing as the outlet she was looking for. At the urging of friends and family, this prolific writer has written her first collection of personal stories." - from the rear outer cover. Signed by Author(s).

First edition. Inscribed first issue ofBig Tablecontaining "Ten Episodes from Naked Lunch" which was published by Irving Rosenthal after he left the Chicago Review due to censorship by the University. A lovely association, this copy signed for legendary Greenwich Village book dealer who owned Greenwich Books and the Rare Book Room, Roger Richards. Greenwich books was a haven for the Beats and other literary figures in midcentury New York. Richards was close with Burroughs, Corso, Ginsberg, and was a regular at Andy Warhol's Factory. The story behind this inscription, from the third party for whom it was intended, was: Richards met Burroughs at the Chelsea Hotel, where he was living, to have a few items inscribed for a longtime client. The two old friends ended up hanging out and decided to get stoned. The first item,Big Table, was mistakenly inscribed to Richards before Burroughs got it right for the others. An iconic piece of Beat Generation history with a nice association from someone who had a large hand in it. . 8vo, 152, [6]pp. Signed and inscribed by Burroughs to Roger Richards at the Hotel Chelsea, N.Y. on pg 79. Publisher's red, blue, and white wrappers, spine slightly cocked and showing a few spots of soiling. Very good or better. Laid in is a Rare Book Room, Greenwich catalogue from Richards.
