Condition: Good. Detailed description of the edition of the lithograph. Signed in ink by Billy Al Bengston. This describes each color, the proofs and the edition. DSW Edition no. 127Billy Al Bengston (born 1934) is a flamboyant character who, beginning in the late 1950s, combined art with professional motorcycle racing and quickly became a key player in the Ferus Gallery circle. He had five solo shows at Ferus from 1958 to 1963, as well as a major exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1968. The motorcycle imagery in several early works associated Bengston with West Coast Pop, as did his use of techniques and materials drawn from custom-car and motorcycle culture, while the polished surfaces he achieved with spray lacquer also connected him to early conceptions of Finish Fetish.Provenance: Estate of Ernest F. De Soto.

Exhibition invite that unfolds, 4 x 6 inches; very good condition; a mailed copy with address label on 1 side. The inside has an image of Billy Al Bengston s 1969 driver s license placed on top of an I-phone, and is seemingly signed by the artist above in black ink with Painting Ect. Billy but this may be printed. The invite also states: In an effort to conserve resources, we will be sending all future announcements via email. A paper invite that succinctly memorializes the end of the era of the genre of the printed exhibition announcement card with an image of the reason for its end; the i-phone was introduced in 2007.
