Bookbinding (illustrator). large 8vo. original natural morocco binding, probably by Sangorski, lettered in gilt with "Photographs of Bindings", "J. & E. Bumpus Ltd" and "A.H.B." on the upper cover. 19 plates mounted to stiff paper. Original sample book of bindings. Spine a little darkened and rubbed at edges but generally very good. There are 19 original silver prints of elaborate jewelled and finely wrought gilt tooled bindings numbered 1 to 19 and include an astonishing Rubaiyat. The initials are those of A.H. Bathurst who worked for Bumpus bookshop, who sold elaborately bound books in the carriage trade like Hatchard's and Sotheran's at this time.
