Octavo hardcover (VG) in d/w (VG-); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. First Edition
Octavo, pp. [1-6] 7-200, illustrations, publisher's blue boards stamped in gold. First edition. The pioneer biography of Stoker resulting from seven years of research and access to the family's private letters, diaries and photographs. The obligatory material on Dracula is presented along with synopses of Stoker's other writings, but Ludlam is at his best when dealing with Stoker's professional connection with the British stage (as manager of Sir Henry Irving and the Lyceum) and presenting the history of Dracula as a play and later in films. Tymn (ed), Horror Literature 7-70. See Barron (ed), Horror Literature, p. 423. A fine copy in very good or better dust jacket priced 21s net on the front flap with mild wear at edges. A nice copy. (#173858).
