Daphne Constance Allen (6 January 1899 1985) was an English artist who achieved recognition at an early age as a painter and illustrator. Allen was born in the Stamford Hill area of London where she was taught painting from an early age by her parents.[1] Her father was the painter Hugh Allen and she also took life-classes in Chelsea. VG/VG Original blue covers and dj shows little damage. Few small tears at the edges and spine of the DJ. Slight fading around the edges, more so on the spine. Underneath brown board cover shows little wear save some small creasing at the base of the spine. Contents are all present, and are clean and bright. Quarto pp 95 including a number of black and white illustrations, as well as 12 colour plates by the author mounted on brown leaves. A collection of fairy stories make up the first half of this book, while the second half consists of drawings and poems by the author on similar themes.
