Anthony "Tony" Hillerman (1925-2008) was an American novelist and writer of nonfiction. He is perhaps best-known for his Navajo Tribal Police detective novels. Hillerman's writings are noted for their incorporation of details about the cultures of different Indigenous tribes including the Dine (Navajo), Hopi, and Zuni. Many of his mystery novels are set in the Four Corners region of New Mexico and Arizona, but, occasionally, parts of Colorado and Utah are featured as well.
