Bild-Maße: ca. 15,5 x 9,5 cm. -- Seltener Holzschnitt aus dem 16. Jh. Aus der Erstausgabe von C. Vecellios Werk: De gli habiti antichi et moderni di diverse parti del mondo. Mit italienischem Text auf der Rückseite. -- gut erhalten. || Rare woodcut from the 16th century. -- Out of the first edition of this C. Vecellio's important encyclopedia of costumes, much consulted by art historians of the Renaissance: "De gli habiti antichi et moderni di diverse parti del mondo". With Italian text on verso. -- in very good condition. || Cesare Vecellio (circa 1521 circa 1601) was an esteemed Italian engraver and painter during the Renaissance era, notably active within the vibrant artistic milieu of the city of Venice. Hailing from Cadore in the Veneto region, Cesare was closely related to the renowned painter Titian, being his cousin. Their familial connection also led Cesare to accompany Titian to Augsburg in 1548, where he likely served as his assistant. Notably, several of Cesare's artworks were mistakenly attributed to Titian, indicating his close association and possibly collaborative efforts with the master painter. Among Cesare's surviving works is a modest Trinity painting housed in the Milan Pinacoteca. He ultimately passed away in his native Venice. Beyond his artistic pursuits, Cesare gained recognition for his contribution to the world of costume illustration. His publication "De gli Habiti Antichi e Modérni di Diversi Parti di Mondo," released in Venice in 1590, showcased intricate woodcuts depicting attire from various cultures across the globe. // Wir, das Antiquariat Steffen Völkel, kaufen und verkaufen alte Bücher, Handschriften, Zeichnungen, Autographen, Grafiken und Fotografien.
