Rowlandson that appeared in Warne's "Tiny Tots Animal Book" (in Warne's 'Popular Picture Books Series'). The illustrations include a particulary fine study of a Jack Russel Terrier and her puppies; a "rare breed"sow and her piglets; a cock, hen and chicks; the other illustrations are Guinea Pigs; Red Squirrel; Pigeons and final a study of Grey Squirrels. The illustrations are in watercolour on thick card; all are signed G. D. Rowlandson or initialed G. D. R. The dimensions are approx. 135 x 230mm; most with contemporary brown paper protectors. All are in very good condition. An outstanding collection of original and decorative animal illustrations by an important animal artist: George Derville Rowlandson (1861-1928) was a British artist best known for his iconic hunting scenes and animal studies, as here. He was born in India in 1861 and studied art in Gloucester, Westminster and Paris. He worked in Bedford Park. Size: 4to. Painting.
