Hardcover, bound in blue cloth titled and illustrated in gilt on the front cover & the spine. The covers are rubbed and bumped and the spine slightly darkened. 275 pages, illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, an illustrated title page, and 21 full-page plates from photographs. There is minor offsetting to the front endpaper and pastedown. Very good. First edition. Inscribed & signed in black ink by the author in the margin of the frontispiece portrait, "Yours truly W. Bowman Tucker Montreal June 1934". Additionally stamped "With compliments of the Author, Montreal City Mission" in red at the top. The Methodist minister and author Rev. William Bowman Tucker Ph.D. (1859-1934) was the co-founder of the Montreal City Mission.
