Just h…ints os wear to extremities, spine slightly rubbed, wrappers ever so lightly soiled, corners square and flat, a bit of rust on the staples, lower rear corner wrapper ever so slightly wrinkled, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Dayton O. Hyde (1925-2018), a writer, rancher, conservationist, and photographer, authored two dozen books, including variants of Brand of a Boy tailored to specific western states. He also wrote the widely acclaimed book SANDY, THE TRUE STORY OF A SANDHILL CRANE WHO JOINED OUR FAMILY (1968). In later life he was renowned for his work in preserving wild mustangs. Cover artist Walter Graham (1903-2000), a Wenatchee resident for the last five decades of his life, was an accomplished western artist. "The purpose of this book is to provide a vehicle that our younger generation and generations to come can utilize to increase their appreciation of the cattle industry and its importance to the economy of this great state [Washington]."
