Octavo, pp. [1-5] 6 [7-9] 10-180, flyleaves at front and rear, inserted frontispiece and title leaf, illustrations in the text, publisher's decorated cloth stamped in gold and blind, yellow coated endpapers. First edition. A well-illustrated Christmas gift book to "please and instruct intelligent children . a volume as a Christian parent may safely place in the hands of his child ." (prefatory note dated 1856, signed "D. W."). Cloth worn at edges, scattered foxing throughout the text, a good copy. (#172959). Signed.
