Ich möchte darstellen, inwieweit die Verfasser der Texte versuchten, genau diesen neuen Rezipientenkreis zu erreichen, indem sie die lateinische Vorlage in der Weise wandelten, dass sie davon ausgehen konnten, die Publikumserwartungen weitesgehend zu erfüllen. Während in der altfranzösischen Fassung, welche die erste volkssprachliche Bearbeitung darstellt, noch didaktisch - religiöse Züge bestimmend sind, lassen sich in der rund 200 Jahre später entstandenen mitteldeutschen Bearbeitung Merkmale feststellen, die wesentlich auf die Befriedigung der curiositas des Lesepublikums ausgerichtet sind.
