CONDITION DESCRIPTION: As new with minor cover soiling and rubbing. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: What a great and inspiring story of a Belgian-based escape and evasion net. Anne Brusselsman operated the COMET escape line for Allied soldiers as an English housewife living in Brussels. She supervised the passage of more than 150 British and American pilots out of Nazi-controlled territory in 4 years. Named MBE; awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm Leaf. This woman risked her life many times on the behalf of the Allies from the early 1940's until the British Forces liberated Brussels in late summer of 1944. This personal story written by her daughter is a loving tribute and full of information not found elsewhere. This copy is signed to me from Yvonne who I met a number of times at various Air Forces Escape and Evasion Society reunions. Both she and her mother were wonderful ladies; both with an undying love for American and British flyers. Inscribed by Author(s).

First edition. pp 172 + plates. Red cloth hardcover in original pictorial dust wrapper which is chipped at edges and slightly torn, now protected else a very good copy. "Rendez-vous 127" by Anne Brusselmans is a memoir detailing her experiences as a member of the Belgian Resistance during World War II. Anne Brusselmans was deeply involved in aiding Allied airmen who were shot down over occupied Europe. Her book provides a vivid and personal account of the perilous work carried out by the Resistance and the significant role she played in the escape network known as the Comet Line. The memoir captures the courage, resourcefulness, and determination of those involved in the underground resistance movements. Brusselmans recounts how she and her fellow resistance members risked their lives to provide shelter, false identities, and safe passage to downed pilots and other fugitives seeking to evade capture by the Germans. "Rendez-vous 127" not only highlights the logistical and operational aspects of these escape routes but also delves into the emotional and moral challenges faced by those who defied the Nazi regime. Through her narrative, Brusselmans sheds light on the broader resistance efforts in Belgium and the critical support provided to the Allied war effort. Her firsthand testimony offers readers an intimate and inspiring look at the bravery and sacrifice of the resistance fighters who worked tirelessly to restore freedom and justice during one of history's darkest periods.
