From lower cover: Yvonne Daley-Brusselmans spent the four years of World War II in Brussels, under German occupation, while her mother, Anne Brusselmans, worked tirelessly in the patriotic but dangerous Belgian Underground. After graduating from college with a degree in education, Yvonne worked in the European "Office of the Air Research and Development Command of the U.S. Air Force, at the Embassy in Brussels. She subsequently worked as an administrative assistant to the Hughes Aircraft Company representative in Brussels, and then for Shulton, Inc., also in Brussels. Anne Brusselsman operated the COMET escape line for Allied soldiers as an English housewife living in Brussels. She supervised the passage of more than 150 British and American pilots out of Nazi-controlled territory in 4 years. Named MBE; awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm Leaf. This woman risked her life many times on the behalf of the Allies from the early 1940's until the British Forces liberated Brussels in late summer of 1944. This personal story written by her daughter is a loving tribute and full of information not found elsewhere. This copy is signed to me from Yvonne who I met a number of times at various Air Forces Escape and Evasion Society reunions.
