First Edition
Trade Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. Imited First Edition of 3,000 Stated. 68 Un-numbered pages. Nicolai Fechin was an artist of two continents. Half of his career was spent in Russia (1881-1923), where his education, training and warmest acclaim took place. The latter part of his life and artistic development took place in America (1923-1955). Fechin was known as the living old master -- an artist's artist. Others called him the Michaelangelo of our time. His talents in so many diverse disciplines was unique indeed -- a master of painting, drawing, sculpture, architecture, woodcarving and ceramics. What his eyes saw and his hands touched, became a creative experience. He considered Taos as his American home and it is there that a Russian house evolved from the New Mexico mud. It is that house which is celebrated in this book. The Fechin Institute is a cultural-educational, non-profit foundation striving to present and develop Fechin's unique approach to learning, teaching, and creating. The institute has leased the Fechin house and studio in Taos and the property is now a registered cultural site and is listed on the national register of historic places. There is a library on the premises for research purposes. It is also available to collectors, students, and dealers regarding accurate information on the work of Nicolai Fechin and consultation on restoration and conservation of his drawings, paintings and sculpture. A permanent file of Fechin's work as well as a file on copies and forgeries is being added to continually. The Institute is co-operating with individuals and publishers of new books on Nicolai Fechin.
