Contact seller3-star sellerPromotion for movie revue of all black cast from the "Chitlin' Circuit", the all black Vaudeville and nightclub circuit from when most of the staged entertainment world was highly segregated. Master of ceremonies for the revue wsa Dick Barrow and the biggest star in the movie was comedian Dewey "Pigmeat" Markham. The movie was m…ade in 1949 but it appears that it may not have been released until 1954. We are therefore unsure whether this promotion was issued in 1949 or 1954, although we favor the latter date as likelier since the promotion was also a ticket order sheet. Thus it was an unusual specimen of marketing, as far as we know, although a form of marketing that might have typified the marketplace of black entertainment of the day which operated in the shadows of Hollywood product. The promotion is a collage of photos showing the movie's performers in stills from the movie. Copies of the movie itself are held by a number of institutions but we could not find copies of promotions for the movie. Measuring 28 by 21.5 cm, printed on only one side, with photos and printing rendered in purple. Light wear.
