Trade paperback.

Magazine / Periodical First Edition
No Binding. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Offered is an original bulletin entitled "Urgent Action: Further Information on UA 333/89 (30 August) - September 11, 1989 - Fear of 'Disappearance' - Guatemala: Victor Hugo Rodriguez Jaramillo; Silvia Maria Azurdia Utrera; Ivan Ernesto Gonzalez Fuentes; Carlos Contreras Conde; Hugo Leonel Gramajo; Mario Arturo de Leon Mendez; Aaron Ubaldo Ochoa; and Carlos Leonel Chuta Camey; Carlos Humberto Cabrera Rivera" issued by the Urgent Action Program Office of Amnesty International USA out of Nederland, Colorado. A single sheet measuring 8-3/8" by 11" and printed on both sides. Containing background information and Recommended Action, the majority of text reads: "Amnesty International has learned that the bodies of four students were found on 10 September, some 200 metres from the Universidad de San Carlos (USAC), San Carlos University, in Guatemala City. All the bodies reportedly bore signs of torture. Among them were Victor Hugo Rodriguez Jaramillo and his wife, Silvia Maria Azurdia Utrera. The body of USAC economics student, Carlos Leonel Chuta Camey, was found together with the two above-named. Carlos Chuta was reportedly abducted on the morning of 8 September 1989 by heavily armed men in plain clothes, outside his home, in the presence of his wife and 10-month-old daughter. He had been a leader of the Asociacion de Estudiantes Universitarios (AEU), Association of University Students during 1987-1988. Also found was the body of 48-year-old Carlos Humberto Cabrera Rivera, who was seized at 8:00 am on the morning of 9 September 1989, as he was washing his car in front of his house. He was abducted by heavily armed men in plain clothes using a Blazer (a type of large van with private license plates which sources in Guatemala say is used by 'officials' of the government). Carlos Cabrera was a student of humanities and an ex-director of the AEU. He was also a member of the Asamblea Nacional de Magisterio (ANM), National Teachers' Assembly, and had been involved in the nation-wide teachers' strike which ended on 17 September 1989." Also: "Amnesty International is now gravely concerned for the fate of the five remaining students, all leaders of the AEU, still 'disappeared'" (Ivan Ernesto Gonzalez Fuentes; Carlos Contreras Conde; Hugo Leonel Gramajo; Mario Arturo de Leon Mendez; and Aaron Ubaldo Ochoa).
